As I awoke, I thought of yesterday’s events, how my eye diagnosis had worried me as I thought about my writing. What would I do if I lost my vision?
I thought of Jesus and His miracles in the Bible. How He had healed so many sick and diseased people. For some reason, it never occurred to me about asking for a miracle in todays’ world. I thought about asking in my prayer to help heal my eye but wasn’t sure if I could even pray or ask for such a miracle.
As I sat down at the dining table, I noticed the Bible as I had left it open from yesterday. When I looked at the page, I found the answer…Jesus must have been anticipating or already known my question as my eyes read:
“IF YOU BELIEVE, YOU WILL RECEIVE WHATEVER YOU ASK FOR IN PRAYER”
Matthew 21:22
and as I continued reading, I was right, there are things I should not ask or pray for but in the last paragraph “pray for your skinned knee”, I understood I could ask for Jesus to heal my eye in my prayer. So much gratitude.”
Tuesday 18 July 2018 5:38am I had been a reborn Christian for about a month or less when I’d written the entry in my journal and thought it was a topic worth sharing. This past Sunday morning 15 July, I awoke around 2:30am with an incredibly, terrible itch inside my left ear. It got so bad I had to “scratch” my throat with this loud raspy sound as I felt the itch all the way the back there. It took me a while before falling back asleep, all the while wondering…
A while back, I learned an itchy ear meant something not being true. Don’t recall exactly the source. When I got up that morning, I thought about the itch in my ear again and in my mind, went over the things I’d read and heard the day before. One thing was sure, there was something not right, something not true.
While sitting with a friend, I read the entry out loud and as I was reading…
WAIT!! Hold it!!…
Of course!! THAT was what the itch was about…I had made a terrible error…I had been totally wrong in my thinking: “I was right, there are things I should not ask or pray for” because Jesus clearly states in Matthew 21:22:
“IF YOU BELIEVE, YOU WILL RECEIVE WHATEVER YOU ASK FOR IN PRAYER”
At the time I believed, I could only pray for some things but not all things but this is absolutely false!! It is about BELIEVING and having complete FAITH without a doubt…that I will receive whatever I am asking for in prayer!! The truth had been staring me in the face all this time…and only now did I notice or realize it.
My friend cried out saying “God Proofreads your writing!” and we both heartily laughed.
This morning, after finishing this entry for “Ava’s thoughts”, I googled “itchy ears in the bible” … this is what I found in Wikipedia: “it is the only time mentioned in the bible”; 2Timothy (KJV) Chapter 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned unto fables.
Thank you God for Looking after me and for Proofreading my notes 🙂
