I am the Light of the World

In light of the tragic events yesterday in Thousand Oaks in which a gunman took the lives of 12 people, I thought this morning about the words in the Book of Revelation about these kind of events at the end of time.

In the old Testament, Habakuk 2:3 God says: “For the revelation awaits and appointed time; it speaks of the end of time and it will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”

In Matthew 24:6-8, our Lord Jesus Christ said: “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earth quakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

So, I understand that all these bad things have to happen and that what is happening today is only the beginning of what is to come. Yet, the Lord puts me at ease by His words “not to be alarmed”. These are the events and things that have to happen so that in the end, the Will of God will reign.

And what are we to do in the meantime? “To ACT justly and to LOVE mercy and to WALK humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

I will continue trusting and walking “humbly” with the Lord God and trusting there will be Light at the end of the tunnel. – In Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior – Amen
